Living with a long-term condition and/or disability can be difficult and isolating. There are a number of services and charities available to give you practical, emotional and financial support should you need it. You can find a list of organisations here, but we've also highlighted some below:

The Alzheimer’s Society are there for everyone living with dementia. They do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.
Asthma and Lung UK

Asthma + Lung UK

Asthma + Lung UK are fighting to prevent, treat, and cure lung conditions. They are striving to do this through research and campaigning. They have an array of support available from support groups, a helpline, and information about your lung condition. If you are suffering from long COVID, there is dedicated information about the condition and how you can manage this on their website.

Macmillan grants are small, one-off means-tested payments to help with the extra costs that living with cancer can bring.
SameYou

SameYou

SameYou is a brain injury recovery charity that works to develop better mental health recovery treatment for survivors and advocates for change. They have developed a range of resources which aim to support people recovering from brain injury. 

Government support 

You could be eligible for a Disabled Facilities Grant from your local council if you’re disabled and need to make changes to your home. This won't affect any benefits you get.

Peer support

The RCN has a network for members with lived experience of disability and/or neurodivergence. They share their experiences and knowledge, give and receive non-professional support, contribute to guidance and promote the benefits of a diverse healthcare workforce. Although the network is for members, lots of their resources are available to non-members too.
