Each year, March and October are National Free Wills Months for adults aged 55 and over.
54% of adults in the UK don’t have a will. If you don’t have a will and the cost of making one is holding you back, then this is your chance!
Why make a Will during National Free Wills Month?
We know that when it comes to making a Will, providing for your loved ones will be your top priority. Many people find that after family and friends are taken care of, they’d like to leave a gift to a cause they care about.
Gifts in Wills, no matter what size, are vital to our work and help us continue to support current and former nurses, midwives and healthcare support workers.
Things to consider when deciding to make a Will are:
Choosing the RCN Foundation
By choosing to remember the RCN Foundation in your Will, you’ll be ensuring that nursing and midwifery professionals get the support when they need it most – making a lasting difference for years to come.
Gifts that come to the RCN Foundation through Wills have a tremendous impact on nurses, midwives and healthcare support workers - regardless whether they are a member of the RCN.
Lily is just one example of the impact a £250 hardship grant has made.
Different ways to leave a gift in your Will
- A share of your estate: known as a residuary gift, you can leave a percentage of what's left to the RCN Foundation after your loved ones have been taken care of
- A cash gift: known as a pecuniary gift, this is a fixed sum of money. It could be £100 or £1,000, and won't change over time
