University of Staffordshire awarded the RCN Foundation Amin Abdullah Grant
Deana James, Adult Nurse Lecturer at the University of Staffordshire, was successful in her 2023 application for the RCN Foundation Amin Abdullah Grant.
Inter-Professional Well-Being and Resilience Conference and Workshops
Deana’s project intends to create a conference and series of workshops open to students and staff from all health and social care disciplines. Topics of discussion will include well-being and resilience in health and social care along with workshops to introduce opportunities including relevant tools, activities, and support mechanisms in place to increase or maintain well-being and resilience.
The overall aim of the project is to highlight the importance of well-being and resilience within nursing and health and social care, and to encourage students to allow time to prioritise this, in turn enhancing compassionate, safer and more effective patient care.
Feedback will be captured at a pre, immediately post, and later point to determine the impact of the event on well-being and resilience and to ascertain what longer term changes may have happened. Findings will be shared on university platforms with the intention to be published across various health journals. Additionally, delegates will be invited to a follow up meeting to discuss these findings.
Having appropriate evidence provides further opportunity to create ongoing conferences, utilising organisations and other networks/ interprofessional colleagues to support their own resilience and well-being.
