Mark Dornan
Meet Mark, the winner of the Marcia Mackie Award for outstanding achievement in professional development in Northern Ireland.
Mark was awarded an education grant from the RCN Foundation to assist his PhD and research into the development of a supportive intervention for people living with and beyond head and neck cancer.
Louise Short
Meet Louise, the winner of the Mona Grey Award for outstanding achievement in professional development.
Louise is a High Intensity Primary Mental Health Practitioner and the education grant supported her studies towards a Post Graduate Certificate in Autism and Asperger Syndrome.
Fartun Ali
Meet Fartun, the winner of our Margaret Parkinson Into Nursing Award for outstanding achievement in pre-registration student nursing and midwifery.
Fartun was awarded a Margaret Parkinson Into Nursing Scholarship to support her studies for an MSc in Mental Health Nursing at City University, London. The support provided by the RCN Foundation enabled Fartun to complete her studies and become a newly qualified nurse focusing on helping those with ill mental health.
Adeboye Osifade
Meet Adeboye, the winner of the Kershaw Award for outstanding healthcare support worker.
Adeboye was awarded an RCN Foundation Education Grant towards a Level 3 Diploma in Adult care and is now a senior healthcare support worker. The course has given Adeboye the confidence to ensure a more patient centred approach that fosters self-awareness, personal growth and that give the patient the strongest voice in terms of decision making.
Jessica Sharp
Meet Jessica, the winner of the Deliveroo RCN Foundation NHS Education Award for outstanding achievement in professional development.
Jessica is a newly qualified Band 5 midwife after obtaining a first class honours degree in midwifery. She was awarded an RCN Foundation education grant to fund her continuous professional development and help her gain new skills in perineal repair and practise these skills in a clinical setting.
Arl Thomas Ora
Meet Thomas, the winner of the Needlemakers Award for outstanding achievement in professional development.
Thomas is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Allergy and was awarded an education grant towards a Level 6 course in Enhancing Asthma Care in Professional Practice at the University of Hertfordshire. The course enabled Thomas to feel more confident and competent in running his asthma clinics and giving advice to patients, but also speaking with other colleagues about his knowledge on asthma.
Emily Prescott
Meet Emily, our RCN Foundation Same You Award winner for outstanding achievement in professional development in neuro rehabilitation.
Emily is a staff nurse at Mersey Care NHS Trust. After several years away from formal education, Emily returned to education and joined the PgCert programme in Neurological Rehabilitation and Care at the University of Edinburgh. Her academic progression and performance were remarkable, resulting in the award of a Distinction in July 2022.
Crystal Campbell
Meet Crystal, the winner of the Leathersellers Award for outstanding achievement in student nursing.
Crystal was a Nursing Associate when she applied for funding and was awarded an RCN Foundation education grant towards a degree in Adult Nursing at Manchester Metropolitan University. Since graduating, Crystal has been based in elective surgery and day-case patient care, gaining insightful knowledge around pharmacology and IV drug administration as well as leading and managing complex patient care.
