In 2010, the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) set up an independent charity – the RCN Foundation.
Its aim was to support nursing and improve the health and wellbeing of the public. Since then, we have:
- Supported some of the most vulnerable members of the nursing team facing hardship and crisis
- Funded hundreds of outstanding nurses, midwives and healthcare support workers to complete courses that enhance their careers and improve patient care
- Backed important and ground-breaking projects that promote and advance the nursing profession.
We still have a strong and supportive link with the Royal College of Nursing, supporting each other's work, but remain independent.
RCN Group
We are part of the RCN Group of organisations. Along with the RCN Foundation, it’s made up of:
- The Royal College of Nursing -a membership organisation, trade union and professional body
- RCNi – a media company providing up-to-date health care information for the whole nursing workforce
- RCN Holdco Limited – a company that provides personal injury and other legal services.
The four organisations in the RCN Group build on each other’s expertise. We work together to:
- Promote excellence in all aspects of nursing, across health and social care
- Share best practice
- Act as the trusted voice of the profession.
Each organisation has distinct aims and activities, but we’re joined by a common thread – supporting, championing and developing the nursing profession worldwide.
