Professor Dame Jane Cummings DBE, RN – Chair of the Board of Trustees
Jane is a registered nurse with over 40 years experience. She specialised in emergency care before holding a variety of senior and managerial roles including clinical nurse specialist, Director of Commissioning, Director of Nursing and Deputy Chief Executive. She has worked in local, regional and national roles.
She was appointed as the Chief Nursing Officer for England in 2012, retiring seven years later. Jane was the national lead for maternity, learning disability, equality and diversity, patient engagement and experience for 16 months and was also the Regional Director for London.
Jane is a visiting professor at Kingston University and St. George's University London and was awarded a Doctor of Science by Edge Hill University and a Doctor of the University by New Bucks University. She is also a clinical ambassador for the Over the Wall charity, where she also volunteers as a nurse.
Jane was made Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in His Majesty the King’s 2025 Birthday Honours for her voluntary services to national charities that support nursing, midwifery and health and social care.
Professor Charlotte McArdle – Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees; Chair, Governance and Nominations Committee; Trustee, Grants Committee
Charlotte is the former Deputy Chief Nursing Officer for patient safety, improvement and sustainability at NHS England. Prior to this she was the Chief Nursing Officer for Northern Ireland where she was responsible for professional leadership, performance and development of the professions. Charlotte is a Visiting Professor at Ulster University Faculty of Health Science and a Fellow of FNMRCSI and QNI.
Fiona Bickley – Trustee, Governance and Nominations Committee; Income Generation and Investment Committee
Fiona is a charity lawyer who has worked as professional in the not-for-profit sector all her career. She is COO of Barts Charity, an endowed foundation supporting life-changing improvements to health in East London. She is also a trustee of the London Community Foundation.
Greg Dix – Chair, Grants Committee, Trustee, Governance and Nominations Committee
Greg is the Executive Nurse Director of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. Prior to this he was the Chief Nurse at the University Hospital Plymouth NHS Trust. With qualifications in academic nursing, teaching and medical law, Greg has clinical, managerial and educational experience both in the UK and New Zealand. He also holds a specialist interest in the legal aspects of nursing and midwifery practice.
Alison Hoad – Trustee, Income Generation and Investment Committee
Over the course of a 30-year career Alison has led several leading London communication agencies and worked with some of the UK's most iconic brands. She is currently Chief Strategy Officer at Publicis.Poke. Prior to this, Alison delivered award-winning research and strategy for public and non-profit organisations including the BBC, Virgin, and the Royal British Legion as well as authoring government publications on marketing and behaviour change.
Gordon Hull – Chair, Income Generation and Investment Committee
Gordon has over 25 years’ experience in developing businesses in the financial services sector. He has worked in leadership positions in a wide variety of business environments, including major public limited companies, small entrepreneurial businesses and, most recently, leading consumer investment and insurance businesses for Wesleyan, Virgin Money and AXA.Gordon has an MA in economics from the University of Cambridge and an MBA from INSEAD, France. He brings extensive experience in strategy and commercial development, marketing, digital development and investment governance to the Board.
Belle Jaleco – Trustee, Grants Committee
Belle is an experienced international nurse from the Philippines with eight years of nursing experience as a neonatal intensive care nurse and theatre practitioner. She arrived in the UK in 2018 and has been working in the NHS for five years now.
She was shortlisted for the national award by the Good Governance Institute Rising Star in 2022 and recently completed the Florence Nightingale Foundation leadership programme for international nurses. Belle is currently working at the Practice Plus Group Hospital in Birmingham as a General and Ophthalmic Team Lead.
Moya Kirmond – Trustee, Grants Committee; Chair, Stakeholder Forum
Moya qualified as an adult nurse in 2014 with a postgraduate diploma from King’s College London. She worked on the major trauma unit at King’s College Hospital for three years before working as a clinical research nurse at St Mary’s Hospital. In 2017, with a grant from the RCN Foundation, she completed her MSc dissertation exploring end-of-life care for trauma patients, and received one of our Impact Awards in recognition of her work. Currently, Moya lives in Bristol and works as a neuro-oncology clinical nurse specialist.
Dr Crystal Oldman CBE – Trustee, Income Generation and Investment Committee
Crystal is an independent community nursing consultant, with a nursing career spanning more than 45 years.
Following a career in clinical practice and higher education, Crystal was appointed as the Chief Executive of the Queen’s Institute of Community Nursing (QICN). Her commitment to excellence in evidence-based practice, policy, innovation and the development of highly skilled nursing leaders guided the development of the QICN’s portfolio of programmes and networks to support the aim and strategic priorities of the charity. In 2025, Crystal moved to ‘preferment’, to use her expertise and experience in the sector to support health and nursing charities and not-for-profits as a Trustee.
Anthony Osijo – Trustee, Income Generation and Investment Committee
Anthony is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Financial Services, a chartered accountant, and a senior investment banker with global experience. Over the last three decades, he has worked for extensively across the structuring, equities and debt markets in Europe, the US and Asia. In 2020 he joined Bboxx, a company focused on tackling energy poverty, and sits on the board of a number of charities.
Dr Maria Pollard - Trustee, Grants Committee
Dr Maria Pollard retired in 2025 from her role as Deputy Director in the Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals Directorate at NHS Education for Scotland (NES), where she provided leadership for a Practice Learning and Pre-registration’ and ‘Women, Children, Young People and Families’ programmes; education governance, research and clinical skills. She is a registered midwife and registered nurse.Prior to joining the NES in January 2019, Maria worked in Higher Education for 19 years where she was latterly Deputy Dean providing leadership and coordination of the School's portfolio of programmes. Her main areas of interest are practice based learning, widening participation, breastfeeding and normal childbirth.
Professor Deborah Sturdy CBE - Trustee
Deborah Sturdy was appointed as the first Chief Nurse for Adult Social Care in 2021 at the Department of Health and Social Care. She has over 40 years of experience in nursing, spanning roles in management, research, policy and practice within both social care and the NHS in England and Wales, and within national government.
She brings a wealth of experience from her career and remains grounded in the issues facing colleagues working in direct care through her extensive sector networks. She believes the workforce is the greatest asset in any organisation and has published widely in the field of nursing older people. She was the first nurse to be awarded the President’s medal by the British Geriatric Society, and holds three Visiting Chairs in Nursing at Buckinghamshire New University, Coventry University and the University of Salford.
Deborah was awarded a CBE in the 2022 Honours list and an OBE in 2017. She is a Fellow of both the Queen's Nursing Institute (QNI) and the Royal College of Nursing (RCN). In July 2023, she was awarded an honorary doctorate from Buckinghamshire New University for her contribution to nursing.
