Introduction and background
In 2024, the RCN, RCNi and the RCN Foundation agreed a Group-wide EDI Strategy which you can find here.
Our first EDI framework and plan, which included benchmarking information and clear targets, ran from 2022-24. This plan therefore marks the continuation of the Foundation’s own EDI journey, setting out our aims and activities for the period 2025-28.
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Plan 2025-28
At the RCN Foundation, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to participate, contribute and thrive. The Board of Trustees and staff team are committed to advancing equity, diversity, inclusion and human rights, and to being a fair and inclusive employer.
Our role as a charity and grant-maker gives us a unique opportunity to help remove barriers that prevent people from accessing support and opportunities. We are committed to creating an environment where beneficiaries and the wider public feel welcomed, respected and empowered.
We also recognise the strong connection between inequality and poor health outcomes. Through the way we work, invest and engage with others, we seek to challenge health inequalities and contribute to healthier, more equitable communities.
The RCN Foundation Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Plan sets out our commitment to embedding EDI across every aspect of our work and outlines the practical steps we are taking to turn our values into action.
