Massive Open Online Course to support CYP mental health launches in celebration of Nurses’ Day

Following funding from the RCN Foundation, the University of York have developed a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for non-mental health nurses and midwives who support the mental health of children and young people. The MOOC aims to better equip nursing and midwifery professionals with skills that build emotional resilience and long-term well-being.

Supporting children and young people's emotional wellbeing

The MOOC - Supporting children and young people's emotional wellbeing – is a free online course that explores how mental health develops through childhood and adolescence, how to recognise common challenges, and what influences positive and negative outcomes. It aims to help strengthen your knowledge and understanding, build practical skills and strategies and enhance professional competencies.

The course will focus on how early identification of need and implementation of non-mental health specialist support can promote resilience and improve wellbeing outcomes. It will provide evidence-based tips and strategies as well as a range of useful resources for your further development.

Whilst it is tailored for healthcare professionals, the MOOC is suitable for everyone interested in learning more about the challenges faced by children and young people regarding their mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Opening on 12 May in celebration of International Nurses’ Day, the course will take place over a duration of three weeks. To find out more about the course and to book your place, visit here
