The RCN Foundation has partnered with LV= to offer an education grant specific to healthcare support workers in the UK who wish to undertake a course to help them progress in their careers.
This fund is dedicated to your professional development with grants of up to £1,600 available.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply for this funding, you need to be a healthcare support worker, and you need to select a course that has a start date between January 2026 and January 2027. Please do not apply if your course falls out of these dates.
Being under the supervision of a nurse is key criteria. Roles that this grant covers include the following:
- Healthcare support worker
- Nursing support worker
- Healthcare assistant
- Care home assistant
Degree apprentice nursing students, foundation degree students and registered nursing associates are not eligible to apply for this grant.

You do not need to be a member of the RCN to apply.
What courses do you cover?
The grant covers the cost of a wide range of educational courses, such as: phlebotomy, wound care, cannulation, taking an ECG, venepuncture, and Advanced Life Support.

Meet Emma
Emma is a Macmillan Colorectal Cancer Care Coordinator at Wirral University Teaching Hospital. Observing the significant mental health impact of cancer on patients, Emma received a grant to pursue a Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills. The grant enabled Emma to advance her professional development and provide more advanced psychological support, influencing her team’s holistic approach to patient care.
