The RCN Foundation has partnered with LV= to offer an education grant specific to healthcare support workers in the UK who wish to undertake a course to help them progress in their careers.

This fund is dedicated to your professional development with grants of up to £1,600 available.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply for this funding, you need to be a healthcare support worker, and you need to select a course that has a start date between 1 September 2025 and 1 September 2026.

Being under the supervision of a nurse is key criteria. Roles that this grant covers include the following:

  • Healthcare support worker
  • Nursing support worker
  • Healthcare assistant
  • Care home assistant
  • Maternity support worker

Nursing apprenticeships and nursing associates are not eligible to apply for this grant.

You do not need to be a member of the RCN to apply. 

Please note, this education grant may close early if we receive a high volume of applications. All applications will be reviewed after the closing date.

What courses do you cover?

The grant covers the cost of a wide range of educational courses, such as: phlebotomy, wound care, cannulation, taking an ECG, venepuncture, and Advanced Life Support.

Meet Ffion

Ffion is a maternity assistant practitioner and was awarded an RCN Foundation LV= Education Grant towards an aqua natal course, to learn how to teach safe and effective classes. Through an interest in fitness and a desire to improve the lives of women in Wales, Ffion identified aqua natal as a way to implement healthier lives using a holistic approach.
