The Mair Scholarship was founded by the RCN’s Occupation Health Nurses Group in recognition of the contribution to occupational health nursing by Professor Alex Mair when Head of the Department of Community and Occupational Medicine, University of Dundee.
Grants of up to £500 are available for occupational health nurses in Scotland for continuous professional development.
Eligibility
To apply for this grant, you need to:
- Be a UK registered nurse working in occupational health
- Working and residing in Scotland
- Undertaking a UK accredited course between 1 September 2025 and 1 September 2026.

Meet Bronwyn
Bronwyn is an Occupational Health Nurse in Scotland. She was awarded the RCN Foundation Mair Scholarship which supported her to become a specialised practitioner. Bronwyn felt the course made her a better nurse by being more reflective, being able to accurately research best evidence-based information and actively promoting positive physical and mental health.
