Running for the RCN Foundation

Taking on a new challenge whilst raising vital funds for the RCN Foundation

This year, for the first time, we have put together a team of runners to taking part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon, which will now take place on Sunday 10 October 2021, and the Virtual London Marathon on 3 October 2021.

Whilst our team of ten runners is full for the Royal Parks half marathon, we have one space remaining left for the virtual Virgin Money London Marathon . You will have 23 hours 59 minutes and 59 seconds to complete the 26.2 miles by either walking, running, or jogging and we love for you to join the team!  For event info see https://rcnfoundation.rcn.org.uk/latest-news/events/virtual-london-marathon

About the Royal Parks Half Marathon

This  central London Half Marathon takes in some of the capital's world-famous landmarks on closed roads, and four of London's eight Royal Parks - Hyde Park, The Green Park, St James's Park and Kensington Gardens. Over 10,000 runners will take part in the 13.1 mile route through central London on Sunday 10 October 2021.

Peter Huxley, one of our runners, tells us why he is running for the Foundation.

"My name is Peter Huxley and I work as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner at Salford Royal Hospital part of the Northern Care Alliance. I have been a qualified Nurse for 21 Years now and have loved every minute of my career but have also seen the hardships that nurses have fallen on over the course of the last two years. Therefore, I am excited to be raising money for the RCN Foundation who are there to support every member of the nursing and midwifery team who need help. I am running for my colleagues and friends and for my boys (aged 6 and 10),to show them that you can do anything you put your mind to.  I was fitted with a Pacemaker ten years ago, but it hasn’t stopped me from enjoying life and keeping fit. I love mountain biking and running, am walking the 3 Peaks in September and cannot wait for the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October."
